Final Tutorial Submission

Final Tutorial Video -

Tutorial Concept - 500 Words -

My concept for the video tutorial of BENV2423, comprised of two sub concepts that I found difficult to achieve when I started using both Google SketchUp and Crysis Sandbox 2. The answers to these questions provided me with a greater understanding as to what I was dealing with in the realm of Architectural Computing.

Firstly came moving objects from SketchUp to the Crysis Engine, as simple a task as this seems multiple times some of my objects didn’t appear or were missing, thanks to Russell Lowe’s tutorial on this topic I was able to grasp the concept and fix the issues I was having. My aim in this tutorial is to assist beginners or both SketchUp and Crysis and teaching not only new people but also experienced users of both software, that they can be used together and that all users from beginners through to experts can benefit from this.

My second tutorial was a topic that I had tried to use for Experiment 1 of the course, but with some help from people on the forum it became evident how to fix this problem. As not all users of the Crysis software have access to our forum, I thought it would be a good concept to follow to help people who have a similar problem to me. So this tutorial is directed at the Crysis users  who need help with AI Navigation and using AI Path’s.

Final EXP 2 Submission

Analytical Brief -
The Pachube feed from the students of ARCH1391 I have selected was one about how light feeds into a building and how the building can in turn keep the natural light levels at a reasonable intensity. To achieve this in the case of the feed, circular shutters are used to account for the amount of light, and to further these studies I have chosen to create a room that has solar powered circular shutters that adjust to the levels of sunlight to suit the activity within, whether it be for plants or for people in a workspace, etc.

CoolInfoGraphics - Three Graphic Concepts related to Solar Power -

As my concept relates to the use of solar power instead of electricity for a hydroponic plant system or a workspace, this concept strongly supports the use of solar power instead of electricity. The suns energy can be used instead of the currents methods being used providing the world with an energy source that is renewable rather than using coal or oil.

Similarly to the image above this InfoGraphic displays information on the effect using solar power will have on the environment, it provides an understanding that it is better for human kind as well as the environment and changing power source will only benefit for the future.

This graph represents the different power sources being used now and looking ahead to the future, natural sources are soon going to take over the market and provide clean energy to the world. This means that non-renewable sources could be spared for more important circumstances and the world could be a more eco-friendly environment.

Pachube Live Feed - Arduino Light Sensor Feed - ARCH1391

SWOT Analysis - Pachube Live Feed
Strengths - The feed clearly displays the concept behind the ARCH1391 assignment through the live feed and shows how the sensors relate to the task at hand.

Weaknesses - The feed is currently frozen and has been for quite some time, so the information displayed might not be reliable for current situations.

Opportunities - The feed has numerous opportunities as it could be used in a variety of places to display light usage in commercial areas, as well as power plants to attempt to reduce the amount of power used in the community through lighting. If the feed was also updated it would give a more reliable result to the questions being asked.

Threats - There are a lot of other feeds with similar information being demonstrated at this current time and most are still live provided current information on this topic.
